Wildlife Club

1st November 2024

Some of the children in Year 6 have been working to improve the biodiversity of our school grounds.  During the Autumn term, they have been meeting at the Wildlife Club on Thursday afternoons, and have helped to make the environment a little more insect and bird-friendly.  The children made their own seed and peanut butter apple feeders, created a bug hotel (with helpful signs) and chosen a range of RSPB bird feeders and nest boxes to hang from the trees in our wooded areas.  When they were in Year 5, they and their classmates raised a very impressive amount of money with a sponsored event, and it is these kind donations that have enabled the club to buy and fill the bird feeders with a range of tasty treats every week.  Luckily for the birds, there's still enough to keep the supplies going right through winter months.
