Supporting Good Causes

 

At Emmaville Primary School, we believe in the holistic growth of our children. Empathy, compassion, appreciation, community values and making a positive difference are encompassed within this growth. These attitudes and attributes are developed not only on a daily basis but also through focused events and projects where our school community support good causes and the local community.

Miss Kenyon and the School Council organised this year's Children in Need event, which included a cake sale, games and activities  Thanks to all the wonderful people who contributed so kindly, we managed to raise over £1500 for good causes.  to the School Council’s Children in Need fundraising event. We were completely blown away by the donations of cakes etc. 
 
Everyone's generosity will make such a big difference to those who need our support; many, many thanks

A non-uniform day to raise finds for the Marie Curie charity collected over £400.
August 10th 2020
 
Members of the Emmaville staff raised £1,105 for the Walk And Talk Trust charity, by participating in a challenging hike up High Cup Nick.  Over twelve miles of walking and climbing, the team were able to appreciate some spectacular views, while promoting the physical and mental benefits associated with regular exercise.  The money raised will enable all of the Year 6 children to have a new pair of walking boots, which will be used throughout the next academic year to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of the pupils.

Last Christmas we asked that no presents were given to the staff. Although we appreciate your generosity, we felt that a donation to local food banks was the best gift that you could give to us. Your response to that request was tremendous. We are very aware that the People’s Kitchen, which our school has some links to, does some remarkable work, so this Christmas, we also ask that no presents are given to the staff; instead we wish to support the People’s Kitchen. As we cannot currently accept any food donations, we have set up a Just Giving page for anyone who would wish to make a monetary donation can do so.

Thank you for your support and generosity to people in need, particularly at this time of year.

I would like to congratulate you all for your magnificent bake offs. I think the teachers had a rather tricky job selecting a class winner, in fact we think you are all super bakers. The bake-off competition helped us to raise the grand sum of £353.50 for Children in Need; an excellent amount of money for an extremely worthwhile cause. Whilst the children of Wales were self-isolating at home, Emily’s Mum organised for the children to participate in a duck race, and George won the race. Well done George and also many thanks to Emily’s Mum. The activity raised £20 and the parents of the children in Wales have kindly added the money to the school total. The sum raised for Children in Need is therefore £373.50.

Generally, at this time of year we would be selling poppies to the children.  Sadly, this year we have decided that under the circumstances this was not a good idea.  However, as poppies are yet another reminder of how fortunate we are to have the life that we have due to so many brave people who fought in horrific wars, we have made a £100 donation on behalf of the school to the Poppy Appeal.

Many thanks to all our families for supporting the CLIC Sargent fund raising event.  The non-uniform/Halloween activity helped us to raise £465. This contribution has been added to the Riley family’s just giving page, and they have so far raised £2911. That is a remarkable achievement, and the family is extremely grateful for the support that you have given to their fundraising activities.
