Tree Planting Part Two

4th March 2025

The Year 5 children started the new half-term by spending the morning finishing off our new hedge.  Over just one morning, the two classes managed to plant 240 saplings to complete the hedge along the long edge of our field.  They dug, planted and caned dogwoods, dog roses, crab apples, field maples, hawthorns and rowans, which will make such a difference to the wildlife as they grow over the years.

Thanks once again to Jessica Lloyd (Education Officer, Royal Forestry Society Teaching Trees) and Eve McShannon (Woodland Creation Officer at Gateshead council), who provided the plants, canes, guards and expertise.
