Blaydon and District League Final: Champions!

Another huge congratulation to the Emmaville football team on another huge success this season. For the first time in the school’s history, we are league champions of Blaydon and District. Having retained the Blaydon and District West League title the previous week, the team were looking to go one better this time around. In the League finals the team were competing against Fellside, Front Street, Winlaton West Lane, Crookhill and St Josepth’s, each of whom had either won or come second in their respective leagues. First match was against Crookhiil and we came away with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from James. Next up was St Josephs which ended with second 1-0 win with a goal from Sam. Winlaton Westkane were next and Archi scored to continue the 1-0 winning run. The forth match was against Front Street where another goal from Sam gain us another 1-0. Final match was Fellside who had had a strong completion. This resulted in another 1-0 score line, but this time it was Fellside who were the victors. At the end of the competition, the top two places were held by Front Street and Emmaville who both had the same points, the same goal difference, the same goals for and the same goals against. For the second time this season, Emmaville were in a penalty shootout. The shootout was nerve racking and full of excitement but thanks to the bravery of all penalty takers including two converted penalties from William and Myles and some fantastic goal keeping from Taylor, Emmaville were Blaydon and District League Final champions for the first time. The team were amazing, both with the way they played and their attitude during the matches. A huge well done again.

Next week, it is the final tournament of the season. The team, and the squad, who have all contributed to an outstanding season, are heading down to the Coventry Building Society Arena for the EFSA’s National Finals where Emmaville will compete against the seven other regional finalist for the title of National Champions. We are so proud of the team and are looking forward for a fantastic day of football and a celebration of a season to be mighty proud of. Well done Team Emmaville.
