Emmaville Year 5 Journalists

18th July 2024

During the Summer term, twelve intrepid journalists from Year 5 (now in Year 6) worked with Melania Cornish-Fleet, Emmaville governor and Director of the charity Bringing Words to Life, to create our very own newspaper.  Melanie (a former journalist herself) uses the charity to empower people to find their own voices through the written word, and the children at Emmaville have long enjoyed working with her, entering her yearly Winter writing competitions and developing their writing skills in her workshops.

Under the guidance of Melanie, twelve Year 5 writers worked hard over several weeks to write reviews of books, films, games and local attractions, as well as to create articles for the newspaper.  This involved a lot of research, interviews, drafting and re-drafting, but the results were well worth it.
