Week beginning 1st June 2026
England Class have had a lovely trip to Auckland Castle this week! In the morning, the children explored St Peter's Chapel and learned about the story of St Cuthbert and St Bede. They then drew pictures to retell the story, and decorated their own stained class windows to show the story of their own life!
In the afternoon, the children went to the Paradise garden and learned about the beautiful plants. They sketched some plants, labelling them with the key words 'roots, stem, leaves and flower', and planted their own sunflower seeds.
The children had excellent behaviour and were great ambassadors for our school. Well done England!
Week Beginning 11th May 2026
This week England enjoyed a visit to Newcastle Cathedral! The class were thinking about our RW focus question 'How do we know that babies are special?'.
The children learned about the process of baptism and the job of a bishop, and were excited to have a go at a baptism of their own! Well done England class
Week Beginning 27th April 2026
England Class have been loving their reading activities this term! Last week, we visited Crawcrook Library where we listened to the story 'Sticky Mildred' and got the opportunity to share some of the library's many books with our friends. This week, we have written book reviews about our favourite class stories sharing what they are about and if we would recommend them. We have also been practicing reading unfamiliar 'alien' words in preparation for the upcoming Phonics Screening Check. Everyone in England Class is an amazing reader and we have been so impressed with their enthusiasm for reading!
Week Beginning 20th April 2026
England Class have had a great start to the Summer term! This week in Computing, we have been thinking about the connection between time online and our mental health. We completed a range of online and offline 'free-time' activities, and discussed which ones were our favourite. We also spoke about the importance of being active, and why we should limit our screen time so we can enjoy fresh air and other activities!
