Day Three

allow-comments
A very long day (sometimes busy, sometimes very relaxed) started with a visit to Buckingham Palace, where we were lucky enough to witness the Changing of the Guard.  Once the new guard had finished playing the regimental music in the Palace Forecourt, the old guard marched out of the gates, around the Queen Victoria Memorial and back to the Wellington Barracks.  It was quite a display.
A short walk through St James' Park brought us to the Churchill War Rooms.  There, we were able to learn so much about the great man himself and how the basement complex under the Treasury building played a part in the war effort.  Everyone was given an audio guide, which helped us around the maze of corridors, rooms and exhibits.  An amazing way to bring this year's WWII History topic to life.
A picnic lunch in the park gave us the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and relax with our friends.  A game of footy, a gossip under a shady tree, a round of Top Trumps (fresh from the War Rooms shop) and a quiet read of a good book was just the ticket.  We also found a lovely little playpark to burn off some energy - yes, we still have plenty in reserve!
Another short amble through Green Park was all that was needed to reach the Hard Rock Cafe, where we were treated to an evening meal and some good music.  Our final stop of the day was the Lyceum Theatre, of course, for the amazing Lion King.  Incredible costumes, amazing sets and those world-famous songs kept us all enthralled.
There should be some decent sleep tonight, and we're going to need it for a fabulous final day.
