Visit to Crawcrook Library

This week Wales had a surprise visit to the newly refurbished Crawcrook library which they were very excited about! The children had a quick tour of the library to see all the new facilities and books that they could use before we sat down to read “There’s an Alien in Your Book”. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting involved with different parts of the story and their favourite parts were drawing the Alien’s home and saying “zaa-zee-zoo” to the Alien and the Monster. We then played a game of Guess Who with Mr Men characters and the children had to guess which Mr Men their friends had by asking questions. They were fantastic at this game. Before we left, the children had the opportunity to read some of the books that are available at the library. They were so well behaved and represented Emmaville amazingly as always- Well done Wales class!

Gateshead Music Workshop

This week the children have had a lovely workshop from the Gateshead Music Team. They introduced rhythms to the children using “slap, clap, click” through which the children demonstrated their amazing listening skills. The children picked up the rhythm quickly so began to use a range of instruments including a Tambaram, Agogo bell, Ganzas and Keisha drums to construct a sample of music which is called Samba music. The children learnt that this type of music is usually played at carnivals in Brazil. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, and we definitely have some inspiring musicians at Emmaville!
