Science Tooth Decay Experiment
In Science this half term, we have been learning all about Animals including humans. As part of this unit, we have been learning about teeth. This has included learning about the different types of teeth and their functions and also comparing the teeth of different animals.
To help us to understand teeth even more, we carried out an experiment on ‘Tooth Decay’. We discussed the different type of experiments/ enquiries that can be carried out; practical enquiries, comparative tests and fair tests. The children in groups, then decided which one they wanted to focus on. The aim of the experiment was to ask the question ‘Which liquid would cause the most decay to teeth?’.
In order to answer this question, the children had to choose which liquid/s (vinegar, coke, orange juice etc.) they wanted to use, place an egg into the liquid and then observe what will happen over time.
Why don’t you ask your children what they have observed so far?
Happy weekend! :) Mrs Graham.

Art- Photography
This half-term in Art, we are exploring photography. We started the term by analyzing and discussing photos taken by one of our own, the very talented Mr Saddington.
The children then took ipads outside (on a beautifully sunny day!) and had fun capturing different moments in nature. They loved doing this and really took the time to think about angles and lighting and what it was that they wanted to capture.
Take a look at some of the beautiful photos that they took below :) Mrs Graham.

Cricket Engagement Day
On Monday, Year 4 and 5 were very lucky to receive a visit from Durham Cricket Club.
We first attended a talk with them which highlighted why Cricket is such an amazing sport to play. We then took part in a cricket workshop and did lots of different activities including throwing, balling, batting and catching.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this! A lot of them seemed very keen to take up cricket in the future, which is fantastic!
