Emmaville Primary School

South America Year 6

Welcome to the South  America Year 6 Class Page.  Here, you can find out about everything that we've been doing this term.
Friday 17th May

We have had the best weekend here in South America! All the children have blown me away with their attitude to what could have been a very stressful week. They took everything in their stride and have been so calm and tried their absolute best! To finish the week off, we have all had a brilliant day surfing at Tynemouth. I heard so many of them say how much fun they had and it was so lovely to hear. However, I think you may have some very tired children this evening.

I hope you all have the best weekend, I am so proud of each and every one of you!
Friday 10th May

What a brilliant week we have had here in South America, everyone has worked so hard and I am so proud of them all. Today, the children have had the opportunity to enjoy something called 'The punctuation show', which aims to be a fun and engaging way for the children to revise. We had one session all about grammar, and another about reading. We answered quizzes, sang and danced and had loads of fun during our sessions and this will hopefully, help us remember the information a little easier.

Hope you all have a relaxing, restful weekend. I am so unbelievably proud of ALL of you and all of your hard work, thank you and see you all on Monday!
Friday 3rd May

This week, we have been working so hard in South America class. Whilst we have been re-visiting some of our previous maths and grammar topics we have been trying to have as much fun as possible. We have been playing some games to help us remember our grammatical terms and when revising angles, we have been using the table. Well, we weren't drawing straight onto the tables (we used some sticky plastic to protect them), but we were then able to draw and measure angles with our learning partners and we had loads of fun. Using a protractor is such a tricky skill, but after this lesson they had all nailed it! I am so proud of them all!

Hope you all have a brilliant, long weekend!
Friday 26th April

Another brilliant week here in South America. I just have to say how proud I am of each and every one of the children; they work so hard and are always complimented, not just by me, but from so many members of staff around Emmaville for their impeccable behaviour. They work so hard in everything they do and I absolutely love teaching them!

This week, we have been working on a piece of writing all about Rock, Paper and Scissors. These are 3 characters that tell a story of conflict and love. I have been blown away by some of the writing that we have had and it is making choosing my next writer of the month SO difficult (but what a great problem to have). Some of the vocabulary used, and punctuation chosen has been so adventurous, I am already looking forward to the next piece of work to see what else the children can come up with.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
Friday 19th April

What a fantastic first week back we have had here in South America! We have really been focussing on our arithmetic skills this week and the progress that everyone has made is phenomenal! I am so proud of everyone for always doing their best and trying so hard, they never give up and the results speak for themselves!

We were also lucky enough to have another music workshop in which we were playing traditional Brazilian music with instruments from the country itself! Some of our class got up to help out with an arrangement involving lots of different parts. They did really well and we all had lots of fun joining in either from our seats, or up on stage.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!
